Buzzer Beater - Clutch is a CrunchLabs toy in the HOOP line, listed as box number 29. It is designed for kids and adults who enjoy building and learning to think like engineers.
My 9-year-old figured out the whole gear mechanism on his own by the third try, which was the best part. The clutch really does slip when you crank it too hard, so nothing snaps. Box 29 might be my favorite in the hoop series so far.
I wasn't expecting the build itself to be the fun part, but figuring out how the clutch mechanism releases on the shot kept me at the table way longer than I planned. It's box 29 in the line and honestly the engineering thinking it nudges you into is the real draw.
Took us about an hour to assemble, and the gear mechanism that launches the ball actually works as described. My only gripe is that a couple of the smaller pieces felt fiddly for younger hands, but once it was together the whole family kept playing with it.
