My 9-year-old figured out the transmission on his own after about twenty minutes of fiddling, and now he's explaining gear ratios to me at dinner. The parts snap together solidly, nothing wobbly or cheap-feeling. It's one of the few toys he's gone back to three weekends in a row.

The gears mesh perfectly once assembled, and watching the transmission shift really clicks how torque and speed work. My kid couldn't stop playing with it after we finished.

The step-by-step building process really helped me understand how transmissions work. I was surprised how satisfying it was to see the gears mesh together correctly after assembling it.
